Young Recitalists II - Leanne Jin and Lily Dai
Leanne Jin - pianist
Talented 17 year old pianist Leanne Jin is a student of Natalia Ricci in the Rising Stars Program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and a Year 12 student at North Sydney Girls High School. She recently attained her L.Mus.A Diploma with Distinction.
Through the Rising Stars Program she has partaken in masterclasses with renowned pianists Sa Chen, Ingo Dannhorn and Helen Krizos and has had regular opportunities to perform as both a soloist and as a chamber musician.
In 2016, she performed a full recital on Fine Music 102.5 FM radio-station, was awarded the Edward Loong Scholarship and was selected as a finalist in the KPO Concerto Competition. In 2017, Leanne had three successes at the Sydney Eisteddfods - winning the Australian Piano section, coming 2nd in the Classical Sonata section and 3rd in the open age Piano Concerto section. She also won the Barbara Robinson Award in the NSW Secondary Schools Concerto competition and performed Prokofiev's Piano Concerto no.1 at The Concourse in Chatswood. More recently, Leanne was accepted through audition into the prestigious “Steps to Mastery” International Piano Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Lily Dai - cellist
15 yr old Lily Dai is a scholarship student at the Presbyterian Ladies College in Sydney. She comes from a musical family and began playing piano at the age of 3 then cello when she was 5, both initially taught by her father. Lily studied cello with Georg Pedersen for 3 years and is now a student of Susan Blake with a scholarship for the “Rising Stars” program at the Sydney Conservatorium Of Music.
In July 2013, Lily was given the opportunity to play the Elgar Cello Concerto under the guidance of Julian Lloyd Webber in Shanghai, China while Mr Webber was on a China tour for the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
2015 was a very exciting year for Lily. In March 2015, Lily represented PLC in the Music Festival of Kochi-Ken school, Japan and in September she attended Masterclasses with Louise Lansdown and Julian Lloyd Webber in Birmingham, UK and in December she was selected for the 9th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, cello division, in Novosibirsk, Russia.
In January 2017, Lily was awarded her L.Mus.A with a Distinction and was invited to the audition at the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia, USA.
She is looking forward to being a Young Recitalist along with pianist Leanne Jin at the Bowral Autumn Music Festival in March 2018.
