Trio Henri - Michael Ierace (piano), Celia Craig (oboe) & Ben Hoadley (bassoon)
Named after the influential but neglected oboist and composer Henri Brod, Trio Henri celebrates music for oboe, bassoon and piano. Brod appears to have written the first ever Trio for double reeds in 1826, in addition to his virtuoso performance career as solo oboist of Paris Opera Orchestra, teaching at Paris Conservatoire, improving the instrument’s mechanism with his brother, and publishing through Paris’s influential publishing house Richault (editor of Berlioz and Liszt). It seems he worked so hard that he wore himself out by the age of 40.

Based in Adelaide, the Trio was originally formed by Adelaide Symphony Principal players Celia Craig and Mark Gaydon with pianist and arranger Michael Ierace. With both wind players ex President of Australasian Double Reed Society, and Michael a regular Associate Artist for the ADRS National Conferences, they have also performed at International DR events including in Bangkok.

Committed to extending the repertoire for this combination, Trio Henri have proudly commissioned original works from Australian composers Joe Chindamo and Anne Cawrse. Due to professional commitments Mark Gaydon is unavailable and therefore Trio Henri is delighted to welcome distinguished guest bassoonist and composer, Ben Hoadley.
