Meagan Turner, viola

 

Canadian violist Meagan Turner is in demand as a performer throughout North America and Australia. Adedicated chamber musician, she has appeared at the Ravinia Festival (Steans Music Institute), TippetRise Arts Centre, the Toronto Summer Music Festival, the Juilliard String Quartet Seminar, the LuminatoFestival, and the Orford Arts Center. She has performed with the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players andShattered Glass, and, in 2023, will perform with Sydney’s Omega Ensemble as guest principal violist.In addition, Meagan has served as principal violist of the New York String Orchestra Seminar, the Spoleto Festival Orchestra, and the Tanglewood Music Centre Orchestra, and regularly performs with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

 

Meagan is the recipient of numerous awards, including Canada’s “Hottest Musicians Under 30”(Canadian Broadcasting Company, 2019). Additionally, she was chosen as a recipient of a RachelElizabeth Barton Pine Foundation Career Grant – an award intended for the advancement of youngartists’ performance careers – and is a past scholar and grant recipient of the Virtu Foundation.

From 2018-2020, Meagan held a fellowship at Carnegie Hall (Ensemble Connect), a residency designedto prepare extraordinary young classical musicians for careers combining musical excellence, teaching,community engagement, advocacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership.Meagan received her Bachelor’s and Performance Certificate from the University of Toronto under thetutelage of Eric Nowlin and Erika Raum, and her Master’s degree from The Juilliard School as a full-scholarship student (Felix Galimir Scholarship and Irene Diamond Graduate Fellowship) of SamuelRhodes.
